New York Rangers Announce Limited Amount of Fans Will Be Admitted to Home Games Starting February 26
Today New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, per Reuters, announced that any stadium that can fit more than 10,000 people can host events beginning on February 23 at 10% capacity so long as the state’s Department of Health signs off on its safety plans.
This includes arenas such as Madison Square Garden, and the Rangers have announced it intends to let fans back in the building starting on February 26. The New York Knicks will begin hosting fans on February 23.

The exact protocol that will allow fans to attend hasn’t been completely announced yet, but the team’s goal is to have roughly 2,000 fans at every game. The Dallas Stars have had a 30% capacity cap for home games, the Arizona Coyotes have had a 25% capacity cap, and so have the Florida Panthers just to name a few.

This news comes on the heels of the NHL postponing additional games involving the Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils, Minnesota Wild, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals, St. Louis Blues and Arizona Coyotes. There’s also a chance the Vegas Golden Knights are added to that list as they reportedly had an incident which led to practice being canceled.
#NHL plans to release a statement later today explaining what transpired in Vegas last night.

My (unconfirmed) understanding is VGK received a positive Covid test result for a player during the 2nd period. Golden Knights practice today was cancelled due to Covid-19 protocol.
I would imagine we will learn more about MSG’s official re-opening plan going forward, and I wonder if there will be around 2,000 fans willing to attend, of if the eventually attendance will be much lower than the allotted cap.
With that said, if you were to meet the eventual criteria used to determine whether or not you could attend, would you go?
If you meet the to be determined criteria for attendance, will you show up for Rangers home games?
