NHL announces team schedules for upcoming season
Game times remain TBD
The New York Rangers will begin the 2020-21 regular season at home against the New York Islanders on Jan. 14, 2021.
Today, the NHL released its schedule for the 56-game season, which includes eight games for the Rangers — four of which will be played at Madison Square Garden — in the month of January. That’s eight games in 17 days. In February, the Rangers will play another 13 games. This is going to be a marathon. Buckle up and get ready for some hockey.

At the moment start times for all games remain TBD, which is not that surprising given all of the moving pieces here. The Rangers’ training camp will open on Jan. 3 and the NHL’s regular season begins on Jan. 13.
The trade deadline for this season is April 12 at 3 p.m. ET. The regular season will wrap up May 8 and the playoffs will begin on May 11, although that date is subject to change. Of course, all of this could go haywire depending on what happens with the pandemic but this is the plan and the schedule we have now.
So, who’s ready for some hockey?
