GIF: Anthony Duclair scores his first career goal in Rangers third period comeback
Anthony Duclair scored his first career goal Monday night, and it was an important one.
So that just happened.
Absent of all the weird, incomprehensible details, which will come soon in the recap, we have a few highlights to go over from Monday night's comeback victory. Chiefly, Anthony Duclair scored his first NHL goal, and it wasn't a garbage-time, unimportant tally. Having already had two players ejected, and the Rangers killing an insurmountable number of penalty minutes, the team mounted a furious comeback in the third period, and Duclair potted the game-tying goal.
The sequence began with a perfect stretch pass from Matt Hunwick (who had a good game as well; two assists) that hit Duclair in stride. From there, the kid did the rest of the work, taking the puck in from the blue line, and using his quick release to sneak a wrist shot past Darcy Kuemper to tie the score at four.
John Gianone told a cool story on the broadcast. After Duclair scored the goal, he skated past the bench, and reminded his teammates they needed one more.
Duclair certainly belongs in the NHL every night, and he proved it again on Monday.
