DeAngelo’s call up is a little surprising, to be honest. He didn’t prove much in his stint in Hartford since earlier this year with just 13 points in 29 games. It’s worth noting he had a horrid first 10 games with the team, so there is some improvement there.
For what it’s worth, DeAngelo should have been called up the moment Steven Kampfer was going to be inserted into the lineup. The Rangers need to find out what they have in DeAngelo, and soon. Especially with rumors swirling they might look at a Ryan McDonagh trade.
It appears he’s already on the ice at practice, too.
Tony DeAngelo on the ice at NYR practice. So are Hayes and Staal.

The Catenacci call up is a little surprising. Maybe just a depth forward move with all the injuries.
More when we know it.
