GIF: Rick Nash pushes goal streak to three games and continues his hot start
All Rick Nash does this season is score goals.
It's just game three of the season folks, it's just game three. And in saying that, as you patiently await your recap and the subsequent comment thread to freak out in, let's think happy thoughts! At the forefront, how about Rick Nash? The much derided, criticized Rangers forward has done this season what many hoped he would do when he came to New York: scored goals.
That's pretty much all Nash has done, as his tally on Sunday night against the Maple Leafs pushed his goal-scoring streak to three games (he's connected in every regular season game thus far), and gave him four tallies in the team's first three games.
Not too shabby for No. 61.
This play begins with good recognition from Marc Staal in his own zone, seeing Martin St. Louis streaking up the wing. Staal fires an outlet pass that wasn't quite on target, but St. Louis hops over the puck and allows it to run into his path, while he and Nash both do a good job of remaining onside, and then capitalizing on the 2-on-1.
Nash exited Sunday night's game early to be with his wife, who is expected to deliver the couple's first baby. Nash almost didn't play in the game at all with his wife expected to go into labor, but hung around long enough to find the back of the net, and then go play dad.
