GIF Roundup: St. Louis scores on a deflection, and Miller drops a dime
Some Rangers who figure to be in the regular season lineup created some highlights during Friday night's preseason game.
There are still a few spots to be won when it comes to the New York Rangers opening day roster, and on Friday night, with the team playing in its second-to-last preseason game, two players who seem like sure-fire names that will appear in the lineup made contributions.
The first comes courtesy Martin St. Louis, who was actually playing center on Friday night, as Alain Vigneault tinkers with some different line combinations. With the teams skating four-on-four, St. Louis planted himself in the slot, and re-directed a shot form Matt Hunwick to score the game's first goal.
And the second highlight comes from J.T. Miller, who is now in that category of players we should see on opening night. With the Rangers trailing by a goal late, Miller corralled a loose puck in the offensive zone, and then made a sweet pass to Ryan Malone to net the equalizer. While Malone obviously gets credit for the goal, this entire play was made by Miller.
