Rangers letting Marek Hrivik walk
The New York Rangers will not re-sign pending RFA Marek Hrivik. Which means the Slovakian winger will become an unrestricted free agent.
Hrivik is turning 26-years-old in August. He had 40 points in 56 AHL games in Hartford and picked up two assists in 16 games with the Rangers last season. His NHL production was nothing to get excited about, but he looked rock solid on the Rangers fourth line and had some head-turning posession numbers in a small sample size.
Hrivik scored 168 points in the AHL as a Rangers prospect. He was an alternate captain for the Wolf Pack last season and finished second on the team in points despite missing 26 games.
Rangers, by the way, are not going to re-sign impending UFA Marek Hrivik. Unclear whether RFA Mackenzie Skapski will be qualified.

With Oscar Lindberg leaving the team via the expansion draft, the loss of a player like Hrivik stings a little bit more than it probably should. The Rangers fourth line for the 2017-18 season is going to look very different.
As per Brooks it also appears that the Rangers may be considering letting Mackenzie Skapski walk. Although Skapski was popular on social media among devout Rangers fans, his numbers have been heading in the wrong direction.
Skapski spent the majority of last season in the ECHL with the Greenvile Swamp Rabbits where he posted a .904 save percentage. In 13 AHL appearances his save percentage was .856, an AHL career-low for the 23-year-old netminder.
Skapski was the Rangers sixth round pick (170th overall) of the 2013 Draft.
Hrivik and (maybe) Skapski join Brandon Pirri and Adam Clendening as noteworthy RFAs who will not be returning to the Rangers or the Wolf Pack.
