New York Rangers News: Conor Allen and Dylan McIlrath Recalled From Hartford
The New York Rangers have recalled Conor Allen and Dylan McIlrath from the Hartford Wolfpack, as Ryan McDonagh and Kevin Klein remain sidelined.
According to an official team release, the New York Rangers have officially recalled Conor Allen and Dylan McIlrath from the Hartford Wolfpack of the American Hockey League. With the recent string of injuries to Ryan McDonagh and Kevin Klein, the Rangers were in need of several defensemen to step into the lineup as soon as tomorrow night. Both McIlrath and Allen have had strong performances as of late with the Wolfpack, so it's no surprise that they will be the ones getting the nod.
McIlrath had a relatively good training camp, and was part of the final group of cuts that were made prior to the finalizing of the opening night roster. Allen on the other hand, had a very poor training camp, and it appeared as if he had taken a step back from last season. Nevertheless though, both have responded well to their time down in Hartford, and will be rewarded with the opportunity to shore up the Rangers defensive depth over the next several games.
In case you missed it earlier, McDonagh is expected to miss at least 3-4 weeks with a separated shoulder, while the diagnosis for Klein still remains up in the air. Klein was seen on crutches earlier this afternoon at the training facility, so it's only safe to assume that he'll be missing a good chunk of time as well. Dan Boyle also remains out as he continues to rehab his broken hand, and is still at least a week or two away from returning to the lineup. Not to mention, John Moore still remains out the lineup as well, as he still needs to serve out the remaining four games left on his suspension.
These next several weeks will be tough for the Rangers, as they will trek ahead without four of their top-six defensemen in the lineup. For the time being, they will be going with Dan Girardi, Marc Staal, Mike Kostka, Matt Hunwick, Dylan McIlrath, and Conor Allen as their six defensemen.
