New York Rangers News: Rangers Send Etem On AHL Conditioning Stint; Trade Upcoming?
The New York Rangers have assigned Emerson Etem to the American Hockey League on a temporary conditioning stint. He may also be traded.
Shortly after news broke that the New York Rangers would be announcing a move with Emerson Etem, Alain Vigneault confirmed that the 23-year-old would be on his way to Hartford. The Rangers made the move official by assigning Etem to the AHL on a temporary conditioning stint, which can last up to a maximum of 14 days. With the recent play of Jayson Megna in his Rangers' debut, and Chris Kreider returning from injury shortly, Etem probably wasn't going to get an opportunity to play in the near future.
Right after the move was made official, Bob McKenzie dropped a bit of a bomb and mentioned that the Rangers were also working on a trade for Etem. He mentioned that a deal could get done sometime today, or it may not go down at all, but they are working the phones. It remains to be seen what the Rangers are looking for in return, but it's very evident that they are trying to get something done.
For the time being, Etem will be assigned to the AHL, which won't prevent a trade if the Rangers eventually reach an agreement.
