New York Rangers News: Lee Stempniak Is Being Tested For The Mumps
New York Rangers winger Lee Stempniak is being isolated from the team, and being tested for the mumps virus.
According to an official team release, New York Rangers winger Lee Stempniak will be isolated from team for five days, and is being tested after showing signs of the mumps virus. If Stempniak does indeed have the mumps, he would be the third confirmed case on the Rangers roster, following both Tanner Glass and Derick Brassard. With only three games remaining before the Christmas break, it's a strong possibility that Stempniak will not return to the Rangers lineup until the December 27 game against the New Jersey Devils.
While we're on the topic of return dates, Derick Brassard's five day isolation period concluded today and he was cleared to skate with the team tomorrow morning. If all goes well following practice, there's a pretty good chance Brassard could be back in time for Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes. That should give a much needed boost to the Rangers, who are currently riding a four game winning streak heading into this weekend.
