New York Rangers News: Rangers Re-Sign Oscar Lindberg

The New York Rangers announced this afternoon that they have agreed to terms with restricted free agent forward Oscar Lindberg. Last season with the Hartford Wolf Pack, Lindberg totaled 28 goals, 28 assists, and 54 points in 75 regular season games.

Lindberg also played a large role in the Wolf Pack's playoff run putting up another 16 points in 15 playoff games, before bowing out in the Conference Finals. The 23-year-old also got his first taste of the NHL last season when he was recalled on February 24, and suited up against the Calgary Flames while getting 8:18 of ice time.

Coming into next season, Lindberg is expected to be in the running for one of the bottom-six roster spots and can be considered one of the favorites. The Rangers still have a ton of work to do on the RFA front as Derek Stepan, J.T. Miller, Emerson Etem and Jesper Fast still remain without new contracts.

UPDATE: Larry Brooks is reporting that Lindberg's contract is a two-year deal that carries a $650,000 annual cap hit. That's a pretty good bargain. His contract is also a one-way deal, which assures that the Rangers expect him to make a hard run at a roster spot next season.
