New York Rangers News: Traverse City Prospect Tournament Dates Announced
The Detroit Red Wings have announced the dates for their annual Traverse City tournament, which will open up on September 5th.
The Detroit Red Wings announced earlier this evening that their annual Traverse City Prospects Tournament will open it's gates on September 5th, and run through until September 9th, 2013. This tournament takes place every year, and features up and coming prospects from the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues. Last year's tournament was cancelled in wake of the NHL's four month work stoppage.
The Rangers competed in the tournament last year, and went all the way to the finals where they fell to the Buffalo Sabres prospects. The official rosters have yet to be announced but it's expected that Jesper Fast, Oscar Lindberg, Conor Allen, Michael St. Croix, Samuel Noreau, Josh Nicholls, and Tommy Hughes will all be present on the roster.
We will continue to update you guys on the roster announcements, and broadcast schedules as they come about in the coming weeks. You can find the official release from the Red Wings below.
The NHL Prospects Tournament will include eight NHL teams playing four games per day for four days: Sept. 5, 6, 8 and 9. This will mark the 15th season of the tournament in Traverse City that has produced over 350 prospects who have gone on to play in the NHL. The eight teams scheduled to participate include the Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues.
