Rangers vs. Penguins Game 1: Two goals, one GIF

If you found yourself yelling at your television, and soon after cheering with a great sense of relief, you probably were watching the game-winning overtime sequence of Rangers-Penguins Game 1.

It happened pretty quickly: As the three minute mark approached in the first extra frame, the Rangers line of Mats Zuccarello, Derick Brassard, and Benoit Pouliot hopped over the boards. This line was responsible for the Rangers' first goal of the night, and, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, have been the Rangers best and most important line for the better part of this season.

So as that line hopped over the boards looking for a game-winner, they did what they've done so well since about mid-December: They moved the puck. Keeping the Penguins on their heels,

A few things to note on this play, and a few reasons the Rangers will continue to find success in this series. This play started with good possession along the boards, until the Penguins were able to win the puck back. But then this line went to work on the forecheck, and turned over a Pittsburgh defensive that is susceptible to doing so when under duress. The goal then happened rather quickly. Pouliot hit Brassard in front, and he fired what would eventually be ruled the game-winner. But with no whistle blown, and no goal light on, Pouliot and Zuccarello kept their feet moving. Brassard would begin to protest the puck was in (and rightfully so) before regaining his composure, and firing a centering feed to Pouliot for OT goal number two.

Which gives birth to a new kind of internet phenomena: Two goals, one GIF.
