Sergei Shumakov And CSKA Part Ways — Is Broadway On The Horizon?
A few weeks ago there were reports the New York Rangers and CSKA Moscow’s Sergei Shumakov were linked to have mutual interest.
Sergei Shumakov and CSKA Moscow have parted ways. Now we wait to see if Shumakov’s next step is a contract with NY Rangers or he has different plans.

While no other linkage to the Rangers has happened yet (well, aside from the above), Shumakov is now a free agent. The Rangers don’t have a ton of space on the wing, but guys like Shumakov are literally free lottery tickets that should be gabled on. At only 25-years-old, he could be a valuable piece, even through a rebuild.
Last year he recorded a 17-23-40 line in 47 KHL games (followed by four points in 11 playoff games), and has been a .51 PPG player in the KHL through 282 career games.
