Rangers Sign Paul Carey
Kevin Shattenkirk isn’t the only player the Rangers have signed away from the Washington Capitals today. The Blueshirts have agreed to terms with AHL forward Paul Carey.
Carey is 28-years-old and brings plenty of offense to the table for Hartford. He had 55 points in 55 games with the Hershey Bears last season. To put that into context Nicklas Jensen led the Wolf Pack last season with 55 points in 70 games played.
Paul Carey and NYR sign 1 year 2 way deal, $650K in the NHL, $400K in minors. #TSN

Carey is a former fifth round pick of the Colorado Avalanche that has established himself as a scoring threat in the AHL. He’s appeared in 32 NHL games in his career, but has only managed to score one goal and pick up one assist.
Hartford is going through something of an overhaul and there was a need for a veteran forward in the top-six forward group. Carey fills that role nicely. He’s also capable of playing both wing and center. Carey’s scouting report on eliteprospects.com paints the picture of a speedy two-way forward.
