Highlights from the Rangers final Traverse City game and closing thoughts

The Rangers prospects finished off the Traverse City Tournament on Tuesday, so here are some highlights, and some final thoughts.

The Rangers wrapped up Traverse City Tournament play on Tuesday with a 6-3 loss to the Wild in the fifth place game. Believe it or not, this was actually the most promising game for New York of the entire tournament. The outcome of these rookie tournaments are next to meaningless, but there are still some things one can take away.

On Tuesday, Anthony Duclair, Kevin Hayes, and Ryan Haggerty all scored. For Duclair and Hayes, it was their first goals wearing a Rangers sweater. Haggerty had already tallied twice, and continued to show his scoring touch by wrapping up these games with another goal. Both Hayes and Duclair looked very good through the team's first three games, but seeing them actually find the back of the net is very promising. Here are the three Rangers goals from Tuesday's game:

Hayes' goal:

Duclair's goal:

Haggerty's goal:

Mat Bodie had the primary assist on Haggerty's goal, and a very nifty secondary assist on Duclair's goal. Bodie's ability to move the puck in tight spaces and set up his teammates was on full display at Traverse, as he tallied three assists in the four games. He'll start the season in Hartford, and has some catching up to do with Conor Allen and Dylan McIlrath, but Bodie could position himself to be the next young guy called up among those three prospects. And of course, as we've been over, that clock is ticking with Brady Skjei on the way.

One final thought, and it relates to Duclair. If you caught his post game interview on Tuesday, Duclair was asked if playing at Traverse City again if there's anything he was looking to bring back to his game this season.

"Obviously, having some experience here playing with older guys, I can bring it back to my Junior team, if I go back, and obviously I'm looking to have a big season."

If he goes back. The mentality has to be to make the NHL team right now, and that's what it is.
