Rangers vs. Capitals: An All-Around Great Win
The New York Rangers picked up their second consecutive victory with a 4-1 defeat of the Washington Capitals. The offense came alive with Artemiy Panarin leading the way with another multi-point game, Ryan Strome picked up his 100th career NHL goal, Pavel Buchnevich picked up a pair of points, and Mika Zibanejad finally scored a goal. Igor Shesterkin also stood tall in goal making 27 saves on 28 shots, picking up his fourth victory of the season.

The Rangers had just come off an unsuccessful power play, and Julien Gauthier drew a hooking call to send the Rangers back to the man-advantage. Kreider picked up a much needed power-play goal for the Rangers after finding the rebound of a Panarin chance that went on goal.
2nd Period
Alexis Lafrenière (2) -Artemiy Panarin (13) & Anthony Bitetto (2) - 17:44

The Rangers’ No. 1 draft pick found the back of the net for the second time this season capitalizing on the fact that he was left all alone in front of Washington’s net. Panarin gave the 19-year-old winger a perfect pass, and it didn’t take him long to put it by Vitek Vanecek. The sigh of relief exhaled by Lafrenière was great to see, and here’s to hoping this is the start of a run of offense for him.
Ryan Strome (5) - Ryan Lindgren (4) & Pavel Buchnevich (7) - 18:43

The Blueshirts’ third goal of the game, and second of the period, came off a long range shot from Strome. Adam Fox somehow found himself sitting in front of the goal and he and Kreider provided a perfect double screen.
Dmitry Orlov (1) - 19:21
The Rangers gave up a late goal after failing to clearing the puck out of their own zone, and the Washington Capitals’ defender made them pay.
3rd Period
Mika Zibanejad (2) - Pavel Buchnevich (8) - 17:48

Zibanejad picked up his second goal of the season, his first in 13 games, after Buchnevich cleared the puck out of the zone. Yes, it was an empty netter, but Zibanejad has been pressing hard for the last few weeks and here’s to hoping he can get back on the right track again.
Overall, this afternoon’s game was a breakout game in a big way, as many players got the proverbial monkey off their back.
A lot of monkeys off backs this afternoon, folks!

🙈
The team has been fighting it as of late, and with this many streaks busted, I imagine the feeling in the room has got to be a little better today than it was before. The Rangers are off until Wednesday, and when they return to action they will square off vs. the Philadelphia Flyers once again at the Wells Fargo Center.
