Game #44: New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers Open Thread
Its Game 3 of rivalry week for the Rangers, and today’s contest will be of the Saturday matinee variety. After earning back to back wins over Our Rivals That We Hold Mild Disdain Towards, David Quinn’s squad will look to make it three consecutive victories and keep pace with the Boston Bruins in the playoff race. Today’s game will be the final one of the season series at Madison Square Garden, with tomorrow being played at the Rangers’ secondary home arena in Newark.
Player to Watch: Vitali Kravtsov
While the Blueshirts won by a 4-0 margin two nights ago, it appeared for a moment that it would be a 5-0 final score. Vitali Kravtsov snuck a puck through Mackenzie Blackwood’s five hole during the third period, but Lindy Ruff, former Rangers’ assistant coach and current bench boss of Our Rivals That Slightly Perturb Us, challenged the goal based on the goal being offsides. Ruff won the challenge, and Kravtsov’s first NHL goal was nullified. Keep an eye on him today.
Enjoy the game!
