New York Rangers Recall Anthony Bitetto and Jonny Brodzinski

The New York Rangers have recalled Anthony Bitetto from the taxi squad, and Jonny Brodzinski from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Bitetto grew up a Ranger fan, and joined the team as a free agent in October. He’s appeared in 183 games in his NHL career, including 51 with the Winnipeg Jets last season.

Brodzinski, 27, signed with the Rangers back in October as a unrestricted free agent. He’s had brief appearances in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings. Overall he’s appeared in 57 NHL games posting a line of 6-6-12, and has also appeared in 200 AHL games over six seasons where he tallied 70 goals, and 68 assists for 138 points.

The recall of Bitetto was expected, and it will be interesting to see if Brodzinski is here as an extra forward or if he’s replacing the injured Colin Blackwell, also signed in October, in tonight’s lineup.

Julien Gauthier appeared in the first three games of the season for the Rangers, but has been a healthy scratch ever since. He averaged 8:35 a game, and registered four shots on goal.
