Ryan Strome Will Miss Game vs. Montreal Due to COVID-19 Protocol Related Absence
This afternoon the New York Rangers announced Ryan Strome will be out for Saturday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens due to the COVID-19 protocol. They have recalled Greg McKegg from the Hartford Wolf Pack in his stead.

As it stands there have been no further details released on Ryan Strome’s status or whether he is expected to be out for any additional games. The NHL’s COVID-19 protocol has multiple layers in how it responds to individuals on whether they are asymptomatic or experiencing symptoms, and without knowing any specifics it’s impossible to accurately guess just how long Strome could be out for. This is tough news for a team that has sputtered out of the gate, especially offensively, but there are positives that can be taken out of the situation. Since you can expect Greg McKegg to be in the bottom six, he’d have a ripple effect on the rest of the roster which involves bumping another center up in the lineup.
This could give Filip Chytil an extended shot on the second line. The former 21st overall pick has shown flashes of dominant play and brilliance but for some reason or another, usually injury, has been side tracked.
