Nick Bonino to Be Placed on Waivers
Recently the New York Rangers recalled Jake Leschyshyn from the Hartford Wolf Pack without any explanation as to why the team needed an additional forward. Today that reason was revealed as it was announced the team plans to place Nick Bonino on waivers.
While his tenure was a short one, Bonino played a fourth line center role throughout the year. Whether the initial plan was for him to play every night, or if injuries and other maladies forced the team’s hand in having him remain in the lineup every game remains to be seen.
With Kakko back and Chytil returning to the United States, albeit still without a timeline to return, the final roster for the postseason push is shaping up. Even if Chytil does return this year, Bonino being waived revealed a weakness in the team’s roster that they will need to address come the trade deadline. As for Nick Bonino, once he clears waivers we’ll know a little bit more on what his future might entail, but one thing is certainly true, we can forever be thankful for the single time he gave us the memorable call from Sam Rosen.
