Official: Rangers Assign Justin Richards to Hartford Wolfpack
After skating in last night’s contest, the Rangers have seen enough of Richards for now
As the Rangers continue to trim their roster down as training camp rolls along, the team has made another cut following last night’s game against the Boston Bruins. After skating nearly 15 minutes for the Blueshirts last night, Justin Richards has been assigned to AHL Hartford:

The Rangers have 41 players remaining in Training Camp.
Although Richards was an extreme longshot to earn a spot on the opening night roster, seeing him cut this early in camp is somewhat of a surprise. The undrafted center out of Minnesota-Duluth was signed as a college free agent following the 2019-20 campaign. Richards spent a majority of 2020-21 with Hartford and recorded a 4-7-11 stat line in 20 games, while also making his NHL debut against Boston during last season’s final game. Richards recorded an assist in that contest as well.
The Rangers are now down to 41 players remaining in training camp. They’ll be back in action on Friday night against the New Jersey Devils.
