The New York Rangers have recalled goaltender Igor Shesterkin from the Hartford Wolf Pack, the team announced.

Shesterkin, 24, has been comically good in the AHL this season, posting a .932 save percentage through 23 appearances. The Russian goaltender has frankly proven NHL-ready long ago.
The reasoning behind the recall has not been publicly established yet, though Head Coach David Quinn did say on Saturday that Henrik Lundqvist was “under the weather.” How long Shesterkin will stay in the NHL, or if he will actually see any action, remains to be seen.
UPDATE: Per the New York Post’s Larry Brooks, The Rangers recalled Shesterkin with the intention of playing him.
Shesterkin recall is not related to goaltending health issues. No word at this point, team practices at 11, but expect Shesterkin to get the assignment tomorrow at MSG v Colorado. They didn't bring him here to dance.
