In 10 seasons coaching the Penguins, Sullivan assembled a record of 409-255-89 for a .602 winning percentage. In 82 playoff games, Sullivan's Penguins boasted a 44-38 record, taking home Stanley Cups in back-to-back seasons in 2015-16 and 2016-17.
Prior to landing the head coaching job in Pittsburgh, Sullivan was an assistant coach for the Rangers under John Tortorella from 2009-2013.
It has long been speculated that if Sullivan were to suddenly become available, he would be a top candidate for the Rangers' head coaching vacancy, given his historical ties to the organization and close connections to Rangers general manager Chris Drury. Now, with Sullivan a viable option, we'll have to wait and see how swiftly Drury moves in his quest to identify the next head coach.
