Preseason Game #1: New York Rangers vs Boston Bruins Open Thread
An off-season of dramatic moves that never was has come to a close, and the 2024-25 Rangers will take the ice for the first time tonight. The first of six pre-season games for the Blueshirts will take place in Boston, as the team begins its usual pre-season slate of home and home sets with the Bruins, Devils, and Islanders.
Other teams returned to the ice for the first time on Saturday, but this clash between New York and Boston will be the first action of the pre-season for both squads. It's not quite meaningful hockey, but the first pre-season tilt serves as a nice appetizer for when the puck drops for real in early October. The first two games usually feature a heavy dose of players destined to be cut shortly after, so enjoy what could be the one occasion a handful of tonight's skaters pull on a Blueshirt for the length of the 2024-25 campaign.
Player to Watch: All Of Them!!!
It's the first game of the season, so rather than focus on any particular player and grading his play in a glorified scrimmage, just be happy the Rangers are back in action after a summer away from the ice.
Enjoy the game!
