Preseason Game #3: Boston Bruins vs New York Rangers Open Thread

Another round of preseason action is on the docket at Madison Square Garden tonight. After the Rangers paid the Boston Bruins a visit on Sunday and returned home with a 3-2 victory, the Bruins are in town to complete the home and home set, and will look to return the favor.

New York is 2-0-0 in the preseason so far, but the second victory was one of the pyrrhic variety as Filip Chytil, Artemiy Panarin, and Ryan Lindgren all suffered varying degrees of injury. Chytil and Panarin appear to be fine, but Peter Laviolette already announced that Lindgren is in line to miss a few weeks, opening up an unexpected roster spot in the defense corps. With three days off between tonight's game and the next contest on Monday, expect a large round of roster cuts at some point following tonight's game and before Monday night.

Player to Watch: Brennan Othmann

The former 2021 first round pick has yet to do anything an eye-popping in the early portion of pre-season, and Othmann will need to kick things into gear if he wants to crack the roster. The 2024-25 campaign is something of a make or break year for Othmann's future, as NHL players who do not establish themselves by their D+4 seasons, which this season will be for Othmann, very rarely become anything of note. Keep an eye on Othmann tonight.

Enjoy the game!
