With Mackenzie Skapski out of the picture until November or December, the Rangers pulled the trigger on a deal for minor league goaltender Magnus Hellberg (yes, that is his name). Hellberg is currently an RFA and joins Desjardins and Skapski as the goalies competing for starts in Hartford with the Wolf Pack next season. Hellberg was a former 2nd round pick of the Predators that simply didn't have a spot in the Predators' farm system thanks to the development of other goaltending prospects, so the Rangers were able to land him for a 6th round pick in 2017.

In short- Hellberg is 6'6", has a lot of potential, and has the surname Hellberg. I'm honestly not sure we need to know much more than that. It's another interesting depth move by the Rangers who took several steps to add to the Hartford Wolf Pack roster today.
Let's go Rangers.
