Rangers Agree to Terms with Ty Emberson on One-Year Contract Extension
The New York Rangers have locked up another RFA... just not the one you all probably thought would get signed next. Today the team announced a new one-year deal for defenseman Ty Emberson.
Emberson is an AHL defenseman coming off his most successful season as a pro. In 69 games he finished with 27 points (7 goals and 20 assists) and followed that up with a line of 2-3-5 in 9 playoff games. He also was named the AHL East's best defensive defenseman as voted upon by his peers.
Emberson joined the organization on this day one year ago in the deal that sent Patrik Nemeth to the Arizona Coyotes.
Emberson is all but assured to be in the AHL with Hartford next season, and the goal will be for him to follow up this season with another good one, and add to the organization's overall depth on defense.
