Artemi Panarin, Kaapo Kakko, Vitali Kravtsov, Jacob Trouba, Adam Fox, and Igor Shesterkin are making their Rangers debuts, albeit in preseason. That’s virtually every notable offseason signing/acquisition.
This will also be an important game in regards to training camp battles. Lias Andersson, fighting for an NHL roster spot, will be getting great opportunity on a scoring line with Kravtsov and Chris Kreider on his wings. Libor Hajek is also fighting for one of the available spots on defense, and Fox represents a potential defensive partner for him to open the season. Boo Nieves, Greg McKegg, Danny O’Regan, and Micheal Haley are all (to varying degrees) battling for one of the final spots on the NHL roster.
Jack Hughes played in the Devils’ preseason opener on Monday, which casts doubt he will suit up for this one and give us the first Hughes vs Kakko matchup.
The game begins tomorrow at 7pm EST and will be broadcast on MSG.
