Preparing for the offseason; Prospects impressing; Former Blueshirt great retires
Today's New York Rangers morning notes.
Happy Friday and congratulations for making it through five full days removed from Rangers' hockey this season. Here are your morning notes.
As the playoffs move on without the Blueshirts, it is time to prepare ourselves for what might be one of the most unpredictable summers yet. To give us an idea of where the Rangers might head this offseason, HockeyStatMiner provides us with his analysis on the potential routes New York's front office can take. [Part 1] [Part 2]
There are 10 players from the Rangers' main roster this season who's contracts will soon expire. The four RFAs include Chris Kreider, Kevin Hayes, J.T. Miller, and Dylan McIlrath.
Eric Staal, Dominic Moore, Viktor Stalberg, Keith Yandle, Dan Boyle and Antti Raanta make up the Rangers' main UFAs. Full coverage on all of the Rangers' expiring contracts at [Blue Line Station].
More good news on the development of some of the Rangers' up and coming prospects. Ryan Gropp of the Western Hockey League's Seattle Thunderbirds, scored the overtime winner to send his team to the WHL finals.
Pavel Buchnevich, who spent this season in the KHL, has made his name for himself among some of the current Rangers' players. [CBS New York]
Lastly, a former Rangers' great announced his retirement on Thursday.

Okay, so maybe it's not the first person that comes to mind of when mentioning a Rangers' great, but hearing this news sparked some major nostalgia for myself. It seems like yesterday Orr was skating on a line with Ryan Hollweg and Blair Betts, reeking havoc on almost every shift.
While Orr was never one to produce offense for New York, it is hard to forget his one-punch knockout on Todd Fedoruk, something one might consider, pretty great.
