Rangers loan Adam Huska to Slovakia’s HKM Zvolen
Another prospect has been loaned to a European club
Slovakian goaltender Adam Huska is the latest New York Rangers prospect being loaned to a club on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
Today, reports surfaced that the Rangers are loaning Huska, 23, to HKM Zvolen in Slovakia. HKM Zvolen was Huska’s youth team in his home country before he came to North America to play in the USHL and in the NCAA at UConn. So, he’ll be playing for a franchise that he’s familiar with. It’s worth mentioning that Zvolen already has two veteran goaltenders in place on its roster. All parties involved know that Huska is in Slovakia on a temporary basis, so it will be interesting to monitor how many starts he gets.

Huska split the 2019-20 campaign between the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL and the Maine Mariners of the ECHL. In Hartford, he posted a record of 11-8-6 with an .894 save percentage and a 3.03 GAA. Those numbers were an improvement from those he put up in 505 minutes of action in the 2018-19 season — his first in the AHL — but were nowhere near the figures earned by Russian sensation Igor Shesterkin.

The Rangers selected Huska with the 184th pick (7th round) of the 2015 Draft. In three seasons with the UConn Huskies he posted a .908 Sv% and a record of 20-38-8. At the moment, he’s one of four goaltenders (excluding RFA Alexandar Georgiev) in the organization under contract for 2020-21 and is expected to share goaltending duties in Hartford with fellow NCAA alum Tyler Wall.
