Rangers performing at WHC; Lindberg's successful surgery; New York out of playoffs
Today's New York Rangers notes.
A weekend filled with good and bad news for the Rangers, but hopefully everyone, especially all of the mothers out there, enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday. With the start to another work week for most, hopefully we will begin to see some indicators as to what will happen next for the Rangers during the offseason. For now, here are today's morning notes.
To start, some good news from the Rangers participating in the World Hockey Championships in Russia this weekend. Nicklas Jensen headlined New York's representatives, scoring two goals for Denmark in their 3-0 win over Norway on Saturday. More on the Rangers at the WHC. [Blueshirts United]
Not to be too contradictive, but as expected in life, the unexpected always seems to happen, and that was the case behind the news of Oscar Lindberg's offseason surgery. Lindberg is expected to be out for six months and if all goes as planned, he could return to the lineup sometime in October. [Blueshirt Banter] [Blueshirts United] [NY Post] [Daily News] [CBS NY]
I cannot speak for everyone, but it was nice to see the New York Islanders bounced from the playoffs on Sunday. Former Rangers' Brian Boyle and Ryan Callahan played big roles for the Tampa Bay Lightning in their advancement to the Eastern Conference Finals. [NHL] [Daily News] [Newsday]
