Rangers Recall Pavel Buchnevich From Hartford
With the Rangers’ bye week officially coming to a close tomorrow night, it appears as if they will finally be getting some injury relief up front. As per the AHL transactions page, the New York Rangers have recalled Pavel Buchnevich after his three game conditioning stint with the Hartford Wolf Pack. This likely signals the much anticipated return of the 21-year-old rookie, after he missed exactly two months with back complications.
His last game in action dated back to November 12 against the Calgary Flames, where he registered a goal in the Rangers 4-1 win. During Buchnevich’s three game stay in Hartford, he registered a goal in his opening game against Lehigh Valley, and finished off with an assist last night against Rochester.
Despite missing three important pieces in Buchnevich, Mika Zibanejad and Rick Nash, the Rangers offensive depth has kept the team afloat thus far in the standings. Coming out of the bye week, the Rangers are tied for third in the Metropolitan division, with Friday night’s contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs looming.
With Buchnevich now back in the fold, and Rick Nash and Mika Zibanejad not far off from their returns, the Rangers offense could be getting a much needed boost pretty soon.
