Rangers Recall Taylor Raddysh, Send Jaroslav Chmelar to Hartford
Raddysh played his way back with five points in five games for the Wolf Pack. Here's what his return means for the fourth line, and for Chmelar's development.
The New York Rangers have announced that they are recalling veteran forward Taylor Raddysh from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. Jaroslav Chmelar will be assigned to Hartford to create space on the roster.

Through seven games played, Chmelar has recorded zero points while averaging just over eight minutes a night.
Raddysh, 28, is in the final year of a two-year deal worth $1.5 million per season that he signed last summer. One of the final cuts of this preseason, Raddysh has skated in five games for the Wolf Pack, recording five points (three goals). Last season for the Rangers, Raddysh played in 68 games, in which he recorded 19 points (nine goals) while shooting a career-best 17 percent. Raddysh will presumably split time with Matthew Rempe on the fourth line, where he will join Oliver Bjorkstrand and Justin Dowling.
This move—like the prior move to send Cole Beaudoin to Hartford in favor of Dowling—will allow Chmelar to get more consistent work in a variety of situations. Additionally, the recall of Raddysh will help the Rangers on the penalty kill and provide them another veteran whom they can rely on for defensive zone play.
