The Rangers have agreed to terms with free agent forward Nathan Gerbe, formally of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Here are his metrics from last season (47 games played):
And from the 2014-15 season:
The diminutive winger played in just 47 games last season with the Hurricanes. He had 7 points in that span playing in a depth forward role.
In 2015-16 he had 28 points (including 10 goals) in 78 games for Carolina, Viktor Stalberg’s new home.
Gerbe missed significant time last season after being on the receiving end of a Kyle Clifford hit in late November. He was Carolina’s Masterton Trophy nominee for 2016 because of all of the injury setbacks in his career (and for being tiny).
He was sometimes a healthy scratch for Carolina along with Brad Malone after missing 25 games last season with a high ankle sprain.
Gerbe’s deal is very low risk for a depth, bottom-six forward. According to Andrew Gross he has signed a one-year, $600k contract.

Gerbe stands at 5’4” or 5’5”. In skates he’s a little bit taller than that.
