Rangers Sign Louis Domingue to Contract Extension
Chris Drury and the Rangers continue to take care of their guys in house as veteran goaltender Louis Domingue is the latest to re-up with the Blueshirts on another one-year extension.
Domingue signed a two-year contract in the off-season after his famous “spicy pork and broccoli” performance with the Penguins against the Rangers in the first round of the 2022 Playoffs. In his first season as the Wolf Pack’s “1A” goaltender, Domingue put up a .911 save percentage, winning 22 of his 45 games played. His workload has decreased this season as Dylan Garand continues to develop, having played 24 games with just about the same numbers as the season prior. Domingue however, did make his Rangers debut this year as he got the start in a 4-1 win against the Minnesota Wild back in November.
While he’s certainly getting up there in his career having just celebrated his 32nd birthday, this is yet another tidy piece of business by the Rangers. Garand will continue to see an increased workload as he develops in Hartford but Domingue provides both the Wolf Pack and the Rangers with an experienced option in net if ever necessary. This will likely take care of the organizations goaltending situation through next season as they now have Shesterkin, Quick, Garand, Domingue and Talyn Boyko under contract, with Olof Lindbom as a potential sixth option as he’s set to become a restricted free agent.
