Rangers take home ice; More on Girardi; Skjei gets his first point
Today's New York Rangers notes
Following a game-one loss in which New York faced a brick wall performance from goaltender Jeff Zatkoff, the Rangers were able to solve the Pittsburgh backup during game two, en route to a 4-2 victory.
The Rangers strong second period against the Penguins gave them more than enough to take the series back to MSG tied 1-1. Here are some recaps and postgame notes. [Rangers vs Penguins coverage] [PensBurgh] [NY Post]
The Dan Girardi controversy continues, as the latest from Steve Zipay clarifies some things. Girardi and Ryan Mcdonagh are unlikely to return to practice on Monday, as the Rangers turn towards Raphael Diaz to re-join the team.
Brady Skjei continues to impress in his limited time with the team this season. He recorded his first NHL point after picking up the secondary assist on Derick Brassard's goal in game two. Skjei also handled an impressive 19 minutes of ice time, while picking up some power play time as well.
The same can't be said about Dylan McIlrath, who finished game two with less than 10 minutes played. Despite one giveaway, his game two performance was all around solid.
