Rangers Trim Camp Roster, Place Domingue and Hollowell on Waivers
Today the New York Rangers announced that they have one again reduced the size of their training camp roster.
The Rangers also placed Louis Domingue and Mac Hollowell on waivers, and for the time being they are still technically part of the training camp roster.
The players assigned to the Wolf Pack include Brett Berard, Dylan Garand, Adam Edstrom, Jake Leschyshyn, Matt Rempe, Matthew Robertson, and Brandon Scanlin. Garand looked pretty solid in limited action, and should be in line to start for the Wolf Pack this season. I wouldn’t rule out a backup stint at the NHL level at some point either.
With these reductions made, here is the current state of the training camp roster.
Forwards (15): Nick Bonino, Jonny Brodzinski, Filip Chytil, Will Cuylle, Barclay Goodrow, Kaapo Kakko, Chris Kreider, Alexis Lafrenière, Brennan Othmann, Artemiy Panarin, Tyler Pitlick, Vincent Trocheck, Jimmy Vesey, Blake Wheeler, Mika Zibanejad
Defensemen (8): Adam Fox, Erik Gustafsson, Ben Harpur, Zac Jones, Ryan Lindgren, K’Andre Miller, Braden Schneider, Jacob Trouba
Goaltenders (2): Jonathan Quick, Igor Shesterkin
At this point in time the remaining battles are for the 7th defense spot, and potentially a few spots within the bottom-six. Will Cuylle and Brennan Othmann have both had impressive showings in camp, and Johnny Brodzinski is trying to show he deserve a spot on the fourth line.
It will be interesting to see what the team decides to do, but overall it has been good to see some competition in what was looking like a camp where every spot was pretty much locked down.
