And then there were 45
Immediately following the long-awaited re-signing of defenseman Tony DeAngelo, the New York Rangers announced that the team made four more cuts from its training camp roster.

Three of the four players who got the axe today are defenseman, which is not altogether surprising with DeAngelo joining the team in camp. With DeAngelo back in the fold, there are 15 defensemen still in camp including Mason Geertsen, Matthew Robertson, Joey Keane, and veteran defenseman Joe Morrow. Morrow is with the Rangers on a PTO.
Players Cut
- Jake Elmer
- Darren Raddysh
- Vincent LoVerde
- Brandon Crawley/
Crawley, 22, had a brutal turnover in the Rangers’ first preseason game that ended up in the back of the net. He was the 123rd pick of the 2017 Draft and is entering his third season with the Hartford Wolf Pack.
LoVerde, 30, signed with the Wolf Pack on July 1, so he was never expected to compete for a spot on the Rangers roster. LoVerde is expected to provide a veteran presence for a very young Hartford blue line.
Raddysh, 23, was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks last year in exchange for AHL scoring threat Peter Holland. Raddysh might be the most noteworthy name of the bunch here considering the fact that the defenseman had 26 points in 54 games with the Rockford Ice Hogs before being dealt. However, he notched just four points in 22 games after joining Hartford.
Elmer, 20, signed with the Rangers as an undrafted free agent last season after piling up 81 points in 68 games with the Lethbridge Hurricanes (OHL). He potted two goals and earned two assists in five games with the Wolf Pack at the end of the 2018-19 season, so new head coach Kris Knoblauch will definitely be considering him for a scoring line role.
