Ty Ronning named to Team WHL Roster
The Rangers’ seventh round pick is gonna be playing alongside other top WHLers.
Every year, the Russian National Junior Team takes a trip out to Canada for a six-game tournament. The CIBC Canada Russia Series sees Russia’s top young players make their way across Canada, playing two games against the top players in the WHL, the OHL, and the QMJHL each.
First up: the WHL.
And the New York Rangers’ seventh round draft pick from the 2016 NHL Draft is among them.
Ty Ronning, taken 201st overall this past June, has four goals and 10 points through 10 games for his Vancouver Giants. The 20-year-old is playing in his final junior season, set to age out of the league following this year; currently, he’s third in team scoring.
Ronning is the lowest-selected pick to make the team. You can find the full roster here. Team WHL is set to host Team Russia on Nov. 7 and Nov. 8.
