Rangers vs. Avalanche: Fourth Line Frenzy

It's good to see the Rangers at least being competitive in games, but still just not quite enough.

  • Chris Feldman will have a piece coming out tomorrow about whether the Rangers can, though the trade deadline moves we're expecting them to make, acquire as many as three first round draft picks. If they start shopping Sam Carrick around, maybe they can get three first rounders just for him. What the hell has gotten in to this man?
  • For that matter, what's gotten into the whole fourth line? That's goals in consecutive games now for Adam Edstrom. Matt Rempe has now played three, yes three, consecutive games without taking so much as a minor penalty. As Keegan Jarvis told me for the piece I wrote on Rempe when he was last suspended, he's capable of playing effective hockey. It's good to see him doing it.
  • Let's back up to the pre-game machinations. Both Chris Kreider and Filip Chytil came back into the lineup for this game. First of all, it's great to see Chytil back, of course. And since all we get when it comes to information on injuries is one or the other half of the body where an injury can occur, it's good that this latest ailment appears (again) to not be concussion-related. Chytil told the beat reporters that he'd be happy at some point in the future to sit down with them to talk about these injuries and what's been going on with him. Will be fascinating when that happens.
