Rangers Vs. Blues Preview: Here We Go
The New York Rangers will finally return to action tonight against the St. Louis Blues as they kick off the 2014-2015 regular season.
It's finally here.
The New York Rangers are set to take on the St. Louis Blues tonight as they kick off their 2014-2015 season at the Scottrade Center. Filled with a mix veterans and young talent, the Rangers will look to build on last season's success, and hopefully find a way back to the Stanley Cup Final. The expectations are going to be through the roof, but with several of their core players growing, it's not entirely out of the question.
Anthony Duclair will be the youngest player on the opening night roster, as he cracked the Rangers lineup as a 19-year-old out of the QMJHL. There's no guarantee that he sticks for the entire season, but if he continues his dominance from the preseason, he'll be just fine.
Tanner Glass, Dan Boyle, and Lee Stempniak will also be making their debut tonight for the Rangers, which should only provide some extra depth.Boyle will be paired up with Marc Staal tonight, and will be relied upon as their main quarterback on the power play. Glass and Stempniak won't do anything spectacular, but they will give AV various options in the defensive zone. Tonight will be a tough test for the Rangers against a very deep Blues lineup, but I expect AV will have the guys ready to go.
Henrik Lundqvist is expected to get the start for the Rangers, while Brian Elliott will be manning the crease across the way. The full lineups for both teams can be found below, as well as the television and radio information.
