Rangers vs. Ducks: As Ugly As It Gets
The New York Rangers still don't want a playoff spot, I guess.

- Let's start here: No one in the East wants this final playoff spot. No one. Montreal has lost five a row. The Islanders are a mess. Columbus is no better. The Rangers allowed three third period goals to lose yet another game—this time to the Anaheim Ducks—but somehow gained a point?
- Montreal, Columbus, and the Rangers all hold 75 points (the Rangers have played two more games than Columbus, and one more than Montreal). The Islanders also have two games in hand on the Rangers and sit at 74 points.
- Before the game, Peter Laviolette (head coach for seven more games only, one would hope) was asked about his team being ready for these big games. This was his answer:
This is sort of an insane answer for the man who literally has "get team motivated for important playoff games" in the job description. But OK. https://t.co/X7EqfZwOf4

- Well, his boys were not. With a coach that tuned into his players this is surprising, I know. In all seriousness, I think Laviolette is as aware as everyone else that he's being fired and he's trying to distance himself as much as he can from this organization and this locker room. Can't say I blame him, although he's starting to drag himself through the mud more and more in my eyes as the season goes on.
