Rangers vs. Flyers: Open Game Thread

Following another thrilling overtime victory just 24 hours ago at Madison Square Garden, the New York Rangers will close out their preseason schedule tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers. With a couple of roster spots on the line, this will be one final opportunity for players to leave it all out on the ice and prove that they deserve to be on the opening night roster.

Alain Vigneault has mentioned quite a few times already that Filip Chytil and Lias Andersson are realistic options to start the season with the big club. Chytil will be in the lineup tonight, and if the past is any indication, he'll make a strong push at locking up a spot on opening night. Unfortunately, Lias Andersson won't be in the lineup tonight due to a nagging foot injury after blocking a shot off of his skate last night. Despite not playing tonight, the coaching staff likely has a sense of where they will be going with both players, so it's not the end of the world that he's not suiting up in the finale.

Here is the projected roster for tonight's game:

Forwards: J.T. Miller, Kevin Hayes, Bobby Farnham, Cristoval Nieves, Jimmy Vesey, Paul Carey, Michael Grabner, David Desharnais, Gabriel Fontaine, Filip Chytil, Pavel Buchnevich, Vinni Lettieri.

Defense: Brendan Smith, Neal Pionk, Steven Kampfer, Ryan Graves, Brady Skjei, Anthony DeAngelo

Goaltenders: Ondrej Pavelec, Brandon Halverson

We're one step closer to the regular season!
