Rangers vs Panthers: Open Game Thread

Can the Rangers get back to winning hockey?

Tonight the New York Rangers look to get back to winning hockey against the Florida Panthers at Madison Square Garden. To date, the Panthers have played just six games this year and have posted an underwhelming record of 1-2-3. Thus far the Panthers’s special teams play and goaltending has been their undoing. Both James Reimer and Michael Hutchinson have left much to be desired in the absence of veteran Roberto Luongo, who is out of the lineup with an injury.

Still, Florida is a dangerous team on paper. The Panthers have four skaters — Keith Yandle, Evgenii Dadonov, Vincent Trocheck, and Aleksander Barkov — who are point per-game players through the first half dozen games of the 2018-19 season. The Rangers, on the other hand, have just two players with six points, and New York has played in two more games than the Panthers.

In case you missed it, Rangers’ defenseman Fredrik Claesson is out of the lineup for the next 2-3 weeks with an upper body injury. Whether or not that means we’ll finally see Tony DeAngelo get back into this lineup remains to be seen, but Quinn has already established himself as being somewhat unpredictable with his lineup.

Please use this as your open thread for tonight’s game.
