Rangers vs Sabres Open Game Thread

The New York Rangers are back home to take on the Buffalo Sabres tonight. They return from a four-game road trip that started in Chicago and ended in Anaheim. The Rangers went 2-2-0 on the trip, with both wins coming in a shootout. Their 4-3 shootout win over the San Jose Sharks marked their first road win of the season. The 5-7-1 Rangers are up to 11 points, but are still trying to claw their way up from the bottom of the Metropolitan Division.

Their opponents, the Sabres, are 7-5-2 with 16 points. They’re currently in the second wild card seed in the Eastern Conference. While the Rangers are coming off of two shootout wins, the Sabres are trying to build a streak off of their 9-2 win over the Ottawa Senators yesterday.

Henrik Lundqvist is set to be between the pipes for the Rangers, after Alexandar Georgiev was against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. Pavel Buchnevich is also set to return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch these last two games.

Buchnevich will skate on the second line with Kevin Hayes and Chris Kreider, since Ryan Spooner will be out with a lower body injury.
