Rangers vs. Sabres Preview: Mackenzie Skapski Will Make His NHL Debut Tonight

Mackenzie Skapski will make his NHL debut tonight against the Buffalo Sabres.

The New York Rangers will pass the torch over to Mackenzie Skapski for at least one night, as the 20-year old rookie is expected to make his first NHL start tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. Since being recalled from the Hartford Wolfpack over two weeks ago, Skapski has been serving as the regular backup behind Cam Talbot. With Talbot starting last night in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks, the Rangers elected to start Skapski tonight, given that it was the second game of a back-to-back.

The Rangers originally selected Skapski in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and eventually made the jump to the AHL this year after finishing out the 2013-2014 season with the WHL's Kootenay Ice. Before being recalled as a result of Henrik Lundqvist's injury, Skapski posted a 12-7-3 record along with a 2.38 goals-against average, and .914 save percentage.

No pressure, kid.
