Rangers Waive Tyler Pitlick
This afternoon prominent NHL insider Elliotte Friedman dropped the news that the New York Rangers are waiving Tyler Pitlick.
In thirty-four games this season Pitlick was averaging just over 10 mins of ice time and has scored 1 goal and chipped in 3 assists. He has mostly played in a support role moving around the bottom half of the Rangers roster, plugging in where needed. With the excellent play of Brodzinski and the rest of the Rangers’ current third line, Pitlick’s potential role on the team was even further reduced.
We’re still unsure of what this means regarding long term plans and the New York Rangers roster, but at the very least Adam Edstrõm will get a longer chance to impress the coaching staff. As the trade deadline approaches, Drury is certainly trimming down the roster, whether that’s for pending additions remains to be seen. As the next few days play out, we’ll know more about Pitlick’s destination and the Rangers overall plans.
