Report: Chytil to Join Team in Calgary, Listed as Day-to-Day
It was a scary sight at the Garden when Filip Chytil went down after colliding with teammate K'Andre Miller in last weeks meeting with the San Jose Sharks. Given Chytil's injury history, it's always a concern to see him leave a game early, especially with how much distress he appeared to be in after attempting to return to that game. The thought of losing him felt detrimental as Chytil has been one of the Rangers most impressive players through the start of the 2024-25 season.
Since then, there hasn't been much of an update on the status of Chytil aside from the fact that he would not suit up for game one of the team's West Coast road trip as they took on the Seattle Kraken Sunday Evening. Thankfully, Larry Brooks came bearing good news this afternoon as it appears Chytil did not suffer a concussion as feared and will join the team in Calgary later this week.
This is extraordinary news. Even if Chytil doesn't play a single game on this road trip, the fact that he doesn't have a concussion and is able to travel is fantastic in itself. It's quite encouraging to see the Rangers handling his situation with caution as we all know the severity of the situation involving his injury history. Frankly, they'd be wise to just keep him in New York until they return home next week but all things considered, this all comes as positive news.
The Rangers are in Vancouver tonight as they'll take on a struggling Canucks team before heading to Calgary where Chytil will join the team prior to their visit with the Flames.
