Report: New York Rangers a finalist for Alex Kerfoot
According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the Rangers are among the final two to three teams in consideration by college free agent and Hobey Baker finalist Alex Kerfoot. Kerfoot, who is 23, put up 45 points for Harvard last year and was initially selected by the New Jersey Devils.
According to Brooks, Kerfoot’s agent told the Post that he would reach a decision no later than Tuesday.
Kerfoot would add some sorely needed center depth for the Rangers, who lost both Oscar Lindberg and Derek Stepan this summer to the expansion draft and a trade with Arizona, respectively. While not an immediate top-line threat, he could slot in nicely into the 3 or 4C spot if he has a nice showing in camp and/or pre-season
